How we handle data on Rapidan HQ.
Overview
Rapidan HQ ("the Platform") is operated by Rapidan Energy Group ("Rapidan", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect from subscribers and authorized users of the Platform, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Account information — name, email address, company, role, and the subscription verticals you have access to.
- Authentication data — hashed passwords and session tokens used to keep you signed in securely.
- Usage activity — actions taken on the Platform (such as login, report views, intel opens), along with timestamps, IP address, and user-agent string. This is used for security auditing and to improve the product.
- Preferences — theme, layout, notification settings, and saved chart presets you configure.
- Push notification tokens — if you opt in, the endpoint required to deliver web push alerts to your device.
How We Use Information
- To provide, secure, and improve Rapidan HQ.
- To authenticate users and enforce access controls based on your subscription.
- To deliver notifications, briefs, and alerts you have opted into.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Third-Party Services
Rapidan HQ integrates select third-party services in order to function. These may receive limited data necessary to provide their feature, including: map and basemap tile providers, market data APIs, prediction-market data providers, AI text-to-speech, translation services, and email delivery for transactional messages. We do not sell your personal information.
Data Retention & Security
Account and activity data is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Passwords are stored hashed (bcrypt). Sessions are bound to hashed tokens stored server-side. Traffic to Rapidan HQ is encrypted in transit over HTTPS.
Cookies & Local Storage
Rapidan HQ uses cookies, browser local storage, and session storage to make the platform work and to remember your preferences. Specifically:
- Strictly necessary — authentication tokens, session identifiers, and CSRF protection. Without these, you cannot sign in or use the Platform.
- Preferences — your selected theme, layout, saved chart presets, panel positions, and other UI settings, so the Platform looks and behaves the way you set it.
- Performance & caching — service-worker storage and cache entries used to load the Platform faster and to support limited offline access.
- Notification state — push-notification opt-in status, device endpoints, and which notices you have already seen, so we don't show the same alert twice.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies and we do not sell your information. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser's settings; doing so will sign you out and reset your preferences. Disabling cookies entirely will prevent the Platform from functioning.
Your Choices
You may update your profile and notification preferences from the Settings screen inside the Platform, or unsubscribe from push notifications from your browser or device settings. For account deletion or data-access requests, contact us at info@rapidanenergy.com.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email.
